Connect Medical Clinic
An inherited WordPress build that had to be stabilised before it could be rethought — starting with caching nobody could trust.

The problem
We didn't build Connect's original site. We inherited it.
The clinic came to us with a legacy WordPress build from another local agency, and the first job wasn't design at all — it was making the thing work. Caching was glitching badly enough that staff couldn't trust what they were seeing: edits that didn't appear, pages serving stale content, a site that behaved differently depending on who loaded it and when. That sat on top of a stack of smaller inherited problems that had been accumulating quietly.
Underneath the technical mess was a structural one. Connect serves patients across sexual health and pregnancy care, and it was growing fast — but the site asked visitors to do the work: understand the service range, figure out which part applied to them, and find the next step, at exactly the moment they were least equipped to go looking.
For a clinic whose whole model depends on people feeling safe enough to walk through the door, that friction wasn't a design problem. It was a care problem.
What we did
We stabilised before we designed. Caching was the first fix, then the rest of the inherited issues one at a time, until the clinic could make a change and trust that it had actually happened.
With the foundation solid, we restructured the site and its messaging around the patient journey rather than the org chart, so the path from a question to an appointment is short and obvious. The new structure carries the complexity of the services without handing that complexity to the patient.
Alongside the build we took on content operations — a shared Notion hub the clinic team writes into, a survey readiness checklist, and scheduled social with clinic sign-off before anything publishes.
The result
A site the clinic can rely on, and one that guides rather than just informs. Search visibility has followed: organic traffic is up 23% month on month, and the clinic is cited across AI search results — 12 pages referenced across ChatGPT, Gemini and Google's AI Overviews, which is unusual for a rural clinic and increasingly where patients start looking.
