  • Website transfers and migrations vary based on platform, access, and technical complexity. To keep pricing transparent and fair, Storyteller Studios uses a tiered, step-based structure based on the actual work required.

    WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

    Custom Code doesn’t actually live independently from the platform — it’s written specifically for how that platform generates the site. When we move from one to another, we must rebuild the layout natively and then re-apply or translate styling where it still makes sense. That gives you a cleaner, more stable site long-term.

    All fees below are one-time unless otherwise noted.

    Base Transfer Fee (Required)

    $350 – Digital Asset Access & Transition Management

    Includes:

    • Intake + technical assessment

    • Coordination with prior vendor (up to reasonable communication)

    • Review of existing domain, hosting, and CMS setup

    • Secure credential handling

    • Transfer checklist + documentation

    • Post-transfer verification of access

    This fee applies to all transfer or migration projects.

    Step-Based Migration Add-Ons

    (Only charged if required)

    1. Domain Transfer or DNS Reconfiguration

    $150 – $300

    Applied when Storyteller Studios must:

    • Transfer domain ownership or registrar

    • Unlock domain and manage EPP/Auth code

    • Reconfigure DNS records

    • Preserve or restore email (MX, SPF, DKIM, DMARC)

    • Validate SSL and propagation

    Final cost depends on registrar complexity and email dependencies.

    2. Hosting Transfer (Same Platform)

    $300 – $600

    For moving a site without changing platforms (example: WordPress → new WordPress host).

    Includes:

    • Site backup and restoration

    • Database migration

    • File transfer

    • Configuration updates

    • Live-site testing

    3. Platform Migration (Rebuild Required - This is MOST common)

    $750 – $2,000

    For migrations where the platform changes
    (example: WordPress or custom → Squarespace).

    Pricing depends on:

    • Number of pages

    • Blog or portfolio content

    • Forms, integrations, or ecommerce

    • SEO preservation needs

    Includes:

    • Content transfer (copy + structure)

    • Visual rebuild (layout-matched, not redesign unless scoped)

    • URL mapping + 301 redirects

    • Pre- and post-launch checks

    This is a rebuild, not a file transfer. Final pricing confirmed after assessment.
